SYNOPSIS
A man from a fictional period in ancient China. Wei Wuxian comes from a wuxia story, a low fantasy-esque genre of Chinese literature where humans practice some kind of magic through the harnessing of qi/energy from the environment and the practitioners' own bodies. Practitioners aka cultivators form sects and hold high social status. However, Wei Wuxian is a cultivator who doesn't follow conventions, prefers acting like a commoner than gentry, and other cultivators tend to give him a wide berth due to harnessing qi from the dead.

He often says or does stuff for the shock factor or attention, or just to amuse himself-- while he does genuinely like to mess around, he doesn't mean to truly upset anyone and will back down if told to do so (eventually)... unless it's from someone he's pegged as an asshole. Then he just annoys them even more. He's also prone to Inventor Brain, where he finds something interesting to work on and tends to forget everything else, like bodily needs and personal safety. Most importantly, Wei Wuxian has a moral code that he never deviates from, and is quite concerned about helping people to the point of being self-sacrificing.

BASICS

Canon: The Untamed (live action adaptation of Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation)
Canon Point: Post-canon

Name: Wei Wuxian (Eastern format, last name first), birth name Wei Ying
Aliases/titles: Yiling Laozu ("Yiling Patriarch")
Age: Chronologically late-30's, mentally early 20's, physically mid- to late- 20's. Maybe. Look I'm trying but who knows how old anyone is in the live action.
Gender: Cismale (he/him)
Species/race: Plain ol' human

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Fashion: Wears the costumes you typically see in Chinese historical-based media-- the kind that look like ancient Chinese outfits, but take a lot of artistic liberties for aesthetics rather than historical accuracy. Wei Wuxian prefers to wear black and red robes, and sometimes he'll wear other colors, but they tend to be neutrals like grey and white, or dark blues.

Spiritual/magical/aura: 1) His body is actually quite weak powers-wise, and 2) his soul doesn't really fit his body.

Height: 186cm (6'1.22"), though his actor Xiao Zhan is 183.6cm (6ft)

Build: Built like a runner or a swimmer, not built for heavy lifting or long fights. He's about as physically strong as an overcooked noodle.

Hair: Black, long, and straight. He always uses a red ribbon as a hair tie.

Eyes: Brown

Voice: Sample. Note: This is not Xiao Zhan's actual voice, but the voice of WWX's audio drama VA, Lu Zhixing. It's common practice in C-dramas to have characters speak in a standarized Mandarin accent that majority of Chinese viewers can understand, but not every onscreen performer is actually able to speak perfectly in said standard accent, hence hiring VAs for dubbing.

Language: Speaks Mandarin. Southwestern Mandarin? Or whatever the main dialect(s) in Hubei was (were?) thousands of years ago.

Scent: Mainly the sun and grass, as he's been traveling a lot lately. Sometimes like his donkey. Sometimes like cheap alcohol, depending on whether or not he found some lately.

Hand dominance: Right-handed

Literacy: Can read and write. However, it's often stated by other characters that his calligraphy is awful.

Triggers: Dogs-- show him a dog, and he will drop everything to run away. On the other hand, threatening or harming the people he cares for may prompt a violent reaction or a nervous breakdown. Or both at the same time.
